After months of planning, to-do lists, vaccinations, endless calls to insurance and credit card companies and countless trips to REI, the time has finally come!
For the past 3 months, everyone keeps asking us “are you getting excited?” and the truthful answer has always been “well yeah, sort of…” because while we have been romanticizing the idea for about a year, the past few months have been extremely time consuming from a planning perspective. From thinking about what countries to visit to selecting what brand of travel underwear to purchase, the decisions we have needed to make both individually and together have been tremendous!
BUT, I can thankfully say with T-minus 1 day, I am getting really excited for our adventure!
The Adventure Begins:
We fly into Singapore on January 2 (from Tallahassee > Dallas > San Francisco (overnight) > Hong Kong > Singapore) and we go to Kuala Lumpur on January 6 to work on a Bamboo Architecture project/other various projects in a beautiful area outside of K.L (more on this in a future post).
We honestly haven’t done too much research on Singapore or what we will be doing for those 3-4 days but we will see once we get there! We should probably make sure we understand Singaporean Law though before we arrive. There are some absurd things that are illegal in Singapore. Here are a few highlights:
- Selling chewing gum is forbidden
- You can get fined for not flushing public toilets
- It is illegal to walk around your house naked
- Spitting is banned
- If caught vandalizing, there is a mandatory caning
Note to self: Don’t chew gum naked while spray painting a building then spitting it out on the floor.
So long USA!
